Nemesio Fernández-Cuesta is Co-Chairman of the Energy Transition Group in Alantra. Throughout his career, he has occupied relevant positions in the Spanish Ministries of Energy & Industry, and Economy & Commerce as Secretary of State for Energy, Deputy General Director of Oil & Gas.
In 1987 he joined Repsol (then dependent on the Spanish National Hydrocarbons Institute) where he spent nine years working in furthering the commercial development of the organization. Following Repsol, he became the President of the Spanish newspaper, ABC. In 2003, he returned to Repsol and occupied various senior positions including Group Chief Operating Officer, Chief Commercial Officer of Chemicals and Gas & Power, and Upstream General Manager.
In recent years, Nemesio was named president of Eolia Renovables and has acted as senior advisor in numerous companies including Everwood FCR VI, Llorente y Cuenca, Montalbán Atlas Capital, and Daiwa Corporate Advisory. He continues to balance his work with his academic endeavours including collaborating with Carlos III University’s Master of Energy Economics and IE University’s course on Energy Transition and Climate Change.
Nemesio holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and has been a Spanish State Economist and Trade Expert since 1981.
