Alantra has advised the shareholders of F T Morrell, the UK’s largest manufacturer and distributor of high-performance industrial wood finishes and application equipment, on the sale of the business to US-based RPM International Inc.

Founded in 1902, four generations of the Morrell family have worked in the business establishing Morrells branded coatings and sealants as the benchmark for high quality, premium finishes for wood.Typical applications for their products include kitchen, furniture and flooring manufacture, general joinery and interior fit-out.With a manufacturing facility near Manchester, Morrells distributes from Nottingham direct to customers and their own network of trade counters in the UK and Ireland.

RPM owns subsidiaries that manufacture and market high-performance coatings, sealants and specialty chemicals, primarily for maintenance and improvement applications.RPM employs more than 12,000 people worldwide and operates 94 manufacturing facilities in 24 countries.Its products are sold in approximately 160 countries and territories globally.Their industrial companies include Stonhard, Tremco, illbruck, Carboline, Flowcrete, Day-Glo, Dryvit and Euclid Chemical.
