Boston – Alantra, a leading global investment bank and asset management firm, is pleased to announce it has advised Cooley Group Holdings, Inc. on its sale to J.H. Whitney Capital Partners, LLC, a leading private equity firm, and the simultaneous acquisition of Vintex Inc. Alantra acted as financial advisor to Cooley Group on both transactions. The transactions closed on December 29, 2020 and the deal value was not disclosed.
Based in Pawtucket, RI, Cooley Group is a developer and manufacturer of sustainable, high performance polymer coated textiles engineered for a diverse group of applications in the commercial, infrastructure and custom graphics end markets. Products include primary and secondary containment for water, wastewater, chemical, fuel and crude oil; waterproofing solutions for commercial roofing, RVs, and infrastructure applications; customized geomembrane and technical textile products for military and industrial markets; and sign, awning and canopy products.
The acquisition of Vintex, a Canadian leader in technical textiles and custom coated fabrics, will expand Cooley’s reach into healthcare fabrics—including fast growing applications in medical devices—and provide Cooley with manufacturing capabilities in Canada. With the acquisition of Vintex, Cooley will now have four production facilities across North America.
Dan Dwight, President & CEO of Cooley Group, said, “The Alantra team was a tremendous partner for Cooley as we accomplished our goals of acquiring Vintex and attracting a well-established financial sponsor. We couldn’t be happier with the teamwork, service and advice provided by Alantra.”
Jon Tetirick, Director with Alanta, said, “We are very pleased to have completed these transactions for Cooley Group. This strategic acquisition of Vintex will allow Cooley to expand its leadership within selected niches of the coated fabrics segment.”
“We wish the Cooley management team and their partners at J.H. Whitney much success as they seek further growth and expansion,” said Paul Colone, Managing Director & Partner with Alantra. “Alantra is proud to continue to build on our strong track record in Specialty Materials with four additional completed transactions in the sector in 2020.”
